Twitter: The Dark Side | TWITTER’s SOCIAL STRENGHT: Insight Into Followers
Followers on Twitter are a measure of someone’s popularity so we took one hard look at LadyQ’s new followers. We had something to see there; out of 37 followers she has gained:
- 17 were Marketing Bots,
- 9 were Porn Bots,
- 5 were Human Marketeers,
- 4 were what we call “Bimbos”, apparently human girls that use Twitter for their promotion, some bordering with soft porn, some perhaps a spammers / markeeter using a nice girl,
- and only 2 were Humans!!
Are there any humans left on Twitter?
We did not want to disclose all that’s going on with LadyQ’s account so we used our own bot instead so we setup a Bot named “Dale Billet” and made him to appear as a human on Twitter’s account. He was then used to automatically post (“twinks”) 300 times for about 48 hours. When "Dale" finished we analyzed how the experiment influenced his “popularity” on Twitter.
During the course of the Experiment the number of Dale’s followers has increased for 32%, from 124 to 164 i.e. Dale has gained forty (40) new followers.
A closer examination of these 40 new followers shows that out of them:
- 22 were Marketing Bots,
- 4 were Human Marketeers,
- 4 were Porn Bots,
- 3 were what we call “Bimbos”, apparently human girls that use Twitter for their promotion, some bordering with soft porn, some perhaps a spammers / marketer using a nice girl,
- 3 were kind of Useful Bots (facts sharing, dating, photo sharing),
- 2 were Humans,
- 2 were some strange Hybrids Accounts with a lot of followers / following but inactive (1 and 0 tweets respectively).

Dave’s feverish tweeting had created only 2 real human followers, or only 5% of all new followers were human while the rest are worthless and burdensome mass. List of "Dale's" new "followers" is in our Appendices and it could be also seen by clicking here.
What is the value in having a Porn Bot following you?

Next step is to examine some of the Marketing Bots followers. We took the example of http://twitter.com/Espanol1 the Marketing Bot with the most followers amongst Dave Billet’s followers examined the newest 20 followers and find out that this Bot had been followed by:
- 10 Marketing Bots,
- 4 Human Marketeers,
- 1 Bimbo,
- 1 Useful Bot,
- 2 Humans,
- 2 Hybrids.
Such absurd situation of a parallel, “robotic Twitter universe” in which bots “follow” other bots renders a lot of services that offer Automatic Follow as utterly useless. Moreover such Twitter’s “openness” to everyone and anyone poses a problem and is burdensome for the Twitter’s network and the Internet as a whole.
Automatic Following is a ridiculous waste of resources and results with absurdities that our example of a Porn Bot would show.

Christians, Donald Trump Following Porn Bots
What is even more interesting is to check out who is following Porn Bots with one tweet and one link to a porn site.
http://twitter.com/vvegvwwvancc was one such Porn Bot “featuring” Brittney Spears and some explicit oral fun in Porn Bot’s supposed “real name”. Amongst its followers were games (kids, anyone?), Donald Trump Network, Christian marketeer, a Rock Band and a Peace promoting Bot.
We firstly hidden the full Twitter name of this and other porn bots purposely – we do not want to promote it but Twitter suspended them in the meantime. Good job Twitter!
